MADabolic Announces a New Signing in Winchester, VA

MADabolic, the franchise leaders in group-based strength and conditioning, is pleased to announce that a new agreement has been signed to bring the concept to Winchester, Virginia, under owner/operators Cait and Shawn Rider.

Cait and Shawn boast strong athletic backgrounds and are no strangers to the fitness scene. Cait grew up in Winchester around sports and found CrossFit after graduating from James Madison University, while Shawn played collegiate football at Appalachian State University and owned a successful CrossFit affiliate for the last 11 years. The forceful duo even competed together in the CrossFit arena, while Cait also dabbled in competitive Olympic Weightlifting – all while maintaining a full-time career in Pharmaceutical Sales and a mom of two.

It took Cait and Shawn just one workout a piece to catch the MADabolic bug. Several years ago, Cait was visiting Asheville and visited the local MADabolic. She was immediately sold. “The ‘Work.Rest.Repeat’ tagline really stuck with me,” she says. “Preaching the ‘rest’ component is just so unique and important, and it’s rare to find a fitness brand that outwardly embraces that.” Meanwhile, Shawn had heard of MADabolic from Stu Brauer’s podcast, WTF Gym Talk, and traveled to MADabolic Arlington to experience it for himself. From there, he and Cait remained in tune with the brand’s growth. Their recent Discovery Day visit in the Charlotte headquarter market sealed the deal: “meeting the team behind the franchise system closed the gap for us.”

While Cait was fond of her time and history with the barbell, her experience with barbell-related injuries and physical strain led her to revisit the opportunity to bring a different type of fitness to her hometown.  Cait has been eager to bring this concept to her hometown to bridge the gap between sport-specific competitive training and general group fitness. “MADabolic is where the people of Winchester can age athletically and gracefully, with functional strength on their side.”

The ability to experience a new level of pain-free and effective training (and ultimately leading her and Shawn back to MADabolic) has made a monumental difference in her life as well as Shawn’s.

“Intensity for intensity’s sake wasn’t right for my body,” notes Shawn, who will serve as the studio’s operator. Cait, the studio owner continues, “MADabolic’s methodologies are tightly aligned with our own fitness ethos…it’s strength, but it’s strength that is structured and safe for everybody. There’s enough research to support the necessity of strength as the foundation of your fitness routine. MADabolic is where the future of strength lies in the boutique fitness space, and there’s absolutely nothing like it in our market.”

Al Mendoza, MADabolic Chief Growth Officer, is very excited about this new partnership, asserting that “Cait and Shawn fit the mold of highly successful MADabolic owners. Their experience with the gym ownership, passion for and alignment with the MADabolic brand and ethos, and appetite to spread that ethos over their strength-hungry market tees them up for optimal success.”

MADabolic, rooted in strength, structure, and accountability, now has 33 studios operating, and another 80+ in development across the country. From a top-notch strength-biased training program to robust operating systems designed to help owners thrive to a team of experts behind the brand, MADabolic provides franchise owners with a blueprint for success in any market.
