MADabolic, the industry’s first and only strength-driven interval training franchise, is pleased to announce that a new agreement has been signed to bring two more locations to the headquarter market in Charlotte, NC, under owner/operators, Landon and Finley Funsten. This agreement brings the Funstens’ total unit tally to four, as they currently own and operate the existing Charlotte portfolio with locations in the Southend and Elizabeth neighborhoods.
Finley has been heavily involved with MADabolic since 2013. Between 2013 and 2017, she evolved from trainer to General Manager of MADabolic Charlotte, which – at the time – was owned and operated by co-Founders, Brandon Cullen and Kirk DeWaele. In 2020, she and her husband, Landon, joined Brandon and Kirk as minority partners in the Charlotte business. Shortly thereafter, Finley assumed a full-time position with the MADabolic corporate team, where she continues to sit today as the brand’s Creative Director. Most recently, in November of 2022, Brandon and Kirk sold their remaining interest in the local business and passed the Charlotte torch to the Funsten duo.
Landon has been an active member of MADabolic Charlotte since 2016, and knows the brand well. He’s the primary operator of the Charlotte portfolio and brings a strong background in business operations to the table. Landon and Finley were both Division I Football and Field Hockey players, respectively, at Davidson College, and translate much of their experience as competitive athletes to MADabolic ownership.
“The outpouring of support from our members over the past few months has been incredible,” notes Landon. “It’s been amazing to see on a day-to-day basis the impact that MAD has on our members’ lives – not just physically, but psychologically, and socially as well. By expanding our footprint, we can provide a better experience for existing members while gaining access to entirely new audiences, whose lives we can change for the better.”
“They’ve been bleeding MADabolic since 2013 and know the brand better than anyone,” remarks Brandon Cullen. “Between Finley’s extensive history with the brand and Landon’s business experience and pure tenacity, there’s no one we trust more to take the headquarter market to its full potential than Team Funsten.”
MADabolic now has 100 studios operating or in development across the country. The brand will soon open new units in key markets such as Austin, TX and Denver, CO in the coming months.
